Once a wild, forested coastline, Fairview blossomed when the railway arrived in the late 1800’s. Following multiple land swaps between big players like the CPR, National Harbours Board, City of Vancouver, and CMHC, the area has grown into a lively, working neighbourhood. As its name suggests, Fairview boasts spectacular cityscapes and mountain vistas that have inspired generations. Today, traces of its gritty, industrial roots mix effortlessly with sleek condos, bustling boutiques, and leafy parks. Since the 1970s, waterfront revitalization has turned Fairview into one of Vancouver’s most desirable urban villages.

Granville Island was created in 1916 by dredging False Creek and building up an existing sand bar.
The Seaforth Armoury on Burrard Street, built in 1935/36, was designed to be the home of the Seaforth Highlanders. This historic drill hall boasts some cool design features like stepped gables, round towers, and cast thistle finials.
A streetcar loop once connected Fairview with Vancouver’s downtown, and ran along Broadway Avenue.
